Friendly neighborhood megaconglomerate EA has finally divulged the release date and pricing options for Mythic Entertainment's forthcoming MMO take on the venerable Warhammer universe. Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR, for short,) goes live on Thursday September 18th, 2008, after three years in development.

'Hammer fans in North America, Europe, and greater Oceania will need actual cash, however, to even attempt to forge their way among the hordes. But how much? “Subscription options include: US$14.99 for a month [...] $41.97 for a three-month subscription and $77.94 for a six-month subscription.” But those aren’t the only ways to procure a pass promising voyage into the uncharted territories.

”Collectible 30 and 60-day prepaid Game Time™ Cards will be available at many game retailers”, and those who are particularly anxious for cutting-edge bludgeonry can get an early start, thanks to an open beta registration, (assuming one makes a timely pre-order...).

Available for the PC, WAR is rated “T” for TEEN by the ESRB, and will be the first massively multiplayer title with a globe spanning server launch. Will Mythic Entertainment's worlds-wide release prove compelling enough to attract Azeroth-addled MMORPGamers? War approaches. The wait isn't long.
