During Kaz Hirai's keynote speech to kick off the Tokyo Game Show, Sony Computer Entertainment announced that the PlayStation 3 would be receiving a new controller, the DualShock 3. Though the company originally thought that rumble and motion sensing would not work well together, they have since been shown the light at the end of the tunnel, and because of feedback from fans, the company decided to create this new controller.
Sony has released a preliminary listing of games that will feature rumble, though very few, at this time, are of the RPG variety. The current list stands at:
Japan - November 2007
- Bumpy Trot (Steambot Chronicles) 2
- Folklore
North America/Europe - Spring 2008
Folklore, the only game listed for all areas, will receive an update after the DualShock 3's release, upgrading the game to utilize the new rumble feature. The exact release date and pricing of the new controller will be announced at a later date.
