Harvest Moon: Wii

RPGamer met with Natsume at this year's E3 to see some of their new offerings, and was pleasantly met with a playable version of Harvest Moon: Wii (title to be changed).

This Harvest Moon for Nintendo's white box of joy will let you choose to play as a boy or a girl, have plenty of animal friends for you to interact with, and, of course, let you farm to your heart's content (or at least till your stamina bar runs out).

The Wii remote controls felt pretty natural. Marvelous Interactive decided to map many of the farming tools to motion controls, so I was tilting down to use my water bucket, flinging up toss seeds, and pulling back and casting out my fishing rod. All of it worked decently well, and you can just use the normal menu system to use all these items as well.

I must confess that most of my time was spent chasing around the cats, feeding them fish, and generally trying to get them to like me enough to come home with me. I failed, but I did get to see that the map was pretty big, with lots of space to farm, and plenty of people to see and areas to gradually gain access to. Areas like one path I found hidden behind a fallen tree.

The game was in Japanese, so it's hard to comment on the few story-related interactions I had, but I can say the girl I met in the town square was very excited to see me. All in all, it looks like it'll be another solid Harvest Moon title to whittle the hours away with. RPGamer is looking forward to seeing how cow milking is implemented with the Wii remote, and we'll keep you posted as soon as we find out.
