Marvelous Interactive is bringing a new SRPG to the Nintendo DS, entitled Luminous Arc. The game takes place in a fantasy world loosely based on medieval Europe, where the powerful Luminous Church rules most of the world — but apparently not without opposition, since the Church is currently engaged in open war with rebellious witches. A young knight, Alph, takes center stage, along with a mysterious girl named Lucia.
Players can move about on the world map, and when they choose to stop a field map opens up for that area. While exploring the field map, random encounters may occur. Battles take place on a traditional grid system, and commands can be entered with either the D-pad or the stylus. Other details are so far unknown. Additionally, the music for Luminous Arc will be composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, of Xenogears and Chrono Cross fame.
Luminous Arc will be released in Japan in December. A North American release has not yet been announced.
