Former Working Designs president Victor Ireland has announced the founding of a new company called Gaijinworks. Gaijinworks will operate in a similar fashion to Working Designs — localizing Japanese RPGs — although unlike Working Designs, Gaijinworks plans to spread out across a variety of consoles. "You could see Gaijinworks on consoles anywhere," said Ireland, "or everywhere."

Gaijinworks' official site is currently a placeholder displaying the company logo. Regarding the company's name, gaijin is a Japanese word meaning "foreigner" or "outsider." By adding "works," Ireland intends to evoke a factory-like feeling, where "outsiders craft Japanese games into stuff for you to care about in English," in his words.

Working Designs was founded in 1986 and closed in December, 2005. It was most notable for its localizations of the Lunar series, as well as its elaborate, embossed box art.
