Square Enix has announced that Romancing SaGa for the PlayStation 2 will ship to stores in North America on October 11. The game will retail for a price of $39.99 and has been rated E 10+, for "Everyone" older than the age of 10, by the ESRB.

Players make use of a free-roaming scenario system, which gives them eight different main characters to choose from. Each player has choices they can make which will determine what events happen in the game as well as the ending that the players see, also creating added replayability. The developers have included many fan-favored features from throughout the SaGa series.

It's been 1000 years since Saruin was imprisoned and the ties that bind him are beginning to wear off. Once again, his shadow threatens to destroy the world of Mardias and it is up to a group of adventurers to stop him for good. A wandering minstrel appears mysteriously and guides the group through an adventure of a lifetime and at points shielding them from calamity. At times, this minstrel leaves the group with a grim decision that will twist their world and determine the plot that they will encounter.
