A recent announcement in the latest issue of Comic Korokoro disclosed a large amount of Pokémon information. The previously revealed title Pokémon Ranger was given a genre and a system, and two completely new games were unveiled.

Pokémon Ranger is, officially, an action RPG for the DS. Players will assume the role of a "Pokémon Ranger," which is the equivalent a park ranger in the Pokémon world, and the tasks assigned will require the player to preserve the flora and fauna of the world using Pokémon. Interestingly enough, the game will sport some sort of connectivity feature with Pokémon Puzzle -- a DS puzzle game -- and Pokémon: Fushigi no Dungeon Blue, one of the two newly announced entries. Pokémon Ranger will see a release in 2006, just before Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, and is intended to have some association with the upcoming Japanese Pokémon movie and anime.

Aside from Pokémon: Fushigi no Dungeon Blue, the other new, similarly titled game is Pokémon: Fushigi no Dungeon Red. A DS and GBA installment respectively, these two games are being developed by Chunsoft, the team responsible for titles such as Torneko: The Last Hope and The Nightmare of Druaga: Fushigino Dungeon. No specifics on either of these titles have been detailed, but their titles suggest two dungeon crawlers much akin to their developer's previous works. These titles will see a Japanese release sometime this winter.

In other news, Pokémon Emerald will hit the shores of Europe on the 21 of October. The game takes players on a quest through the land of Hoenn to maintain the balance between Kyogre and Groudon, who have been disturbed by Team Aqua and Team Magma. The title showcases such features as wireless multiplayer, team battles, and the newly implemented Battle Frontier.

No exact release has been pinned on either Ranger or the Fushigi no Dungeon titles, and no North American localization is planned for the latter yet. Stay tuned to RPGamer for more information as it comes into light.
