Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus / Square Enix

The most recent issue of Shonen Jump has exposed a few more details about Square Enix's forthcoming Final Fantasy VII spinoff, Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus. In this update, several characters get a name and a story, and the potential for multiplayer madness is revealed.

Reeve, whose presence in the tale has long been known, has now been labeled as the leader of "WRO," an organization set on rebuilding the Planet. Also, the musclebound brute lugging a gargantuan firearm through the game's trailers has been named. He is Asul, an elite Soldier of the "DG," or Deep Ground, group. Lastly, the magazine depicted a mysterious shrouded ninja weilding a sizable and rather familiar shuriken.

Characters aside, Dirge of Cerberus is planned to be network compatible. While specifics are not yet known, it is certain that this will allow players to compete in team battles or engage in a multiplayer mode.

Dirge of Cerberus will see a Japanese release late in 2005, and a subsequent North American localization sometime in 2006. RPGamer will continue to post information as it is made public.
