Square Enix has announced that the Final Fantasy VII spinoff movie, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, will be shown at the Venice Film Festival for the second year in a row, as a digital movie. It is rare for a film to be shown in the festival twice, but last year's version was a "Special Edited Version". This year's version is the completed product.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will be released as a DVD, and in UMD format for Sony's PSP handheld system. On September 14 in Japan, the UMD version will be released for 4,800 yen ($43 USD), the DVD version for 4,800 yen ($45 USD), and a limited-edition DVD for 29,500 yen ($275). The limited-edition DVD includes a reproduction of the movie's script, keychain with serial number, cap, t-shirt, trailers, special-edition international version of Final Fantasy VII, and other bonuses.
The DVD version of the movie is due in North America on the same date, September 14. There are no current details about the UMD or the limited-edition DVD package reaching the continent.
