Magna Carta: Tears of Blood

After the original Magna Carta for the PC was recalled due to a fatal error, Korean developer Softmax decided to try again, and created Magna Carta: Tears of Blood. Now Playstation 2 gamers in Europe are counting their lucky stars, as Magna Carta: Tears of Blood (also known as Magna Carta: Crimson Stigmata) will grace their doorsteps in October of this year. Codemasters has picked up the European publishing rights.

Already released in Japan and slated for release in the United States, Magna Carta: Tears of Blood is a long awaited addition to the European Tactical-RPG market. After selling 300,000 copies in Japan since its release last September, its European future looks promising.

Magna Carta: Tears of Blood is to contain 50+ hours of gameplay, and cinematics with complete voiceovers. The plot takes place in the world of Efferia, where human settlers and native Yasons are at war, and have been for 30 years. After the humans migrated to the Yason homeland, they began to multiply and threaten the native population. Tension built for centuries, until conflict finally broke out. The main character, Calintz Jerevinan, is the leader of a powerful military team in the frontlines of the Yason-Human bloodshed. In your travels, you will meet Rieth, a young girl with amnesia and the ability to potentially cease the conflict. Characters designs are courtesy of Korean artist Hyung-Tae Kim.

The battle system utilizes the strategic placement of your characters on the battlefield, as well as real-time, where time points are allocated for movements and attacks. Special techniques utilize seven different kinds of "Carta," and the battle system includes the use of combos and counter-attacks.
