Bioware Corp., Atari Interactive, Inc., and Obsidian Entertainment have announced that the development of Neverwinter Nights 2 is underway. The Neverwinter Nights franchise has sold over two million copies, distributed in over forty countries, and has been translated into ten languages.
Obsidian Entertainment will be developing the game with Feargus Urquhart, Obsidian Entertainment's CEO, behind the wheel. Urquhart, who was responsible for the Baldur's Gate series, Planescape: Torment, and Icewind Dale, says that the company will take the "incredible experience" offered by Neverwinter Nights and build upon it. Neverwinter Nights 2 is expected to have numerous upgrades and enhancements to the BioWare Aurora Toolset, a unique feature allowing the players to create their own storylines and quests.
According to the game's website, Neverwinter Nights 2 is expected to be released in 2006. RPGamer will bring you more information on this title as it becomes available.
