Final Fantasy XI

Ubisoft has announced that they have reached an agreement with Square Enix that sees Ubisoft receiving exclusive distribution rights for the PC version of Final Fantasy XI in Europe. Included inside the package is FFXI, the two expansions: FFXI: Rise of Zilart and FFXI: Chains of Promathia, the Playonline browser software, and Tetra Master (originally in Final Fantasy IX). This title is currently scheduled to be released across PAL territories this September.

"We are very honored that once again Square Enix trusts Ubisoft's strengths in distribution for their new "Final Fantasy" episode and thus capitalizes on our existing partnership," said Alain Corre, Ubisoft's managing director for Europe, Middle East and Asia. "This proves our mutual confidence and joint dedication to bringing an ever-greater range of quality titles to the PAL market. Final Fantasy is one of the most famous franchises in the world of video games and with over 500,000 online subscribers, FFXI can rely on a strong brand to smoothly continue the legend online."

Square Enix, Ltd. has also opened the Official European Final Fantasy XI site which gives further details regarding the title and its many nuances. Non-English speaking gamers will also be pleased to know that Square Enix will be opening new versions of the site soon for Spanish and French speaking fans and will undoubtedly feature more languages soon after.
