The day many have been dreading is near at hand. Sega has announced its plans to close down the Dreamcast Phantasy Star Online servers at midnight on September 30th. The message boards will follow on October 1st. If any players have subscriptions that go beyond the October 1st mark, their money will be refunded by November 1st.

While a rather sad development for Dreamcast gamers, it was not unexpected. Sega has declared the Dreamcast dead, and it has kept the servers running for quite some time afterward.
