Sony to Launch European EverQuest Servers
EverQuest

The virtual world of EverQuest has been around for quite some time now. Boasting over 400,000 members from across the globe, the game is an institution in the MMORPG genre. With six million online gamers, Europe has long presented a market that cries out for exploration, and Sony Online Entertainment has heard the call. The company announced today that it will be launching dedicated EverQuest servers in the European market by the end of the year. The first will be hosted in the U.K. and will go online sometime this winter. Additional servers on the continent will be fired up in a market-dependent manner.

Kelly Flock, president of Sony Online Entertainment, stated that, "We are committed to bringing online gaming to everyone, everywhere." He went on to say that, "The roll out of our first European servers marks the beginning of our global initiatives and we are committed to continuing these efforts to meet the demands of our growing global community."

Additionally, SOE announced that it will introduce advanced in-game and web-based translation software for multilingual chats, via its Station.com website. The first phase of this endeavour will be the introduction of human translating agents for French, German, Japanese and Korean, starting with the upcoming EverQuest: Shadows of Luclin expansion pack.
