Interviews With Squaresoft's Honolulu Team
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within

Although Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is slowly fading from the public's eye, the advent of CG moviemaking is not. Although FF:TSW was not a box office smash, managing only $30 million at the box office after 3 weeks of release, the film's impact will certainly be felt as movies gravitate toward computer graphics rather than actual flesh and blood actors. With Pixar Studio's upcoming CG film Monsters, Inc., it is certain that the trend will remain, even after less-than-expected profits for Square's foray into the field. The boys at ArsTechnica have taken note of the increasing popularity of computer graphics and have conducted an interview with the staff of Square's Honolulu studio concerning the technical aspects of making the film.

Asking five members of the team questions concerning the production process and the work done on certain aspects of the film such as lighting, shading, and hair rendering, the interview gives a behind-the-scenes look at the technical processes in the creation of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Anyone interested in computer graphics and animation should definitely check it out.
