Baldur's Gate, BG: TotSC, BG2: Shadows of Amn, and Icewind Dale find a home on the Mac

Since its release on the PC, Bioware's epic AD&D Child of Bhaal Saga series, Baldur's Gate, has entertained millions of RPG fans around the world. Similarily, Interplay Entertainment's RPG subsidiary, Black Isle Studios, used the game's Infinity Engine to create bestsellers in their own right: Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter, and a free downloadable Icewind Dale expansion, Trials of the Luremaster, respectively.

In a move to create even more fervor for the games, Interplay has given the rights to Macplay to port Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, and Icewind Dale. This will no doubt be good news for RPG lovers who have a Macintosh, but have been hard pressed to have popular PC titles developed for it.

Currently, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn is due for a July 17, 2001 release. Icewind Dale is due for a September 1, 2001 release.

Editor's note: Due to the late posting of this news, Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast for the Macintosh have already been released.
