Sega.net Beta Test Sign Up is Over

You missed it! From approximately 13:00 Pacific Daylight Time on August 9, 2000 until roughly the same time today, Sega was taking applications for beta testers for the company's online gaming network, Sega.net. Sega was seeking the services of roughly 100 volunteers that will be expected to put the fledgling gaming network through the rigors of hardcore game testing.

The 100 beta-testers will be selected from the pool of applicants. According to Sega's Chief Technology Officer Lynn MacConnell, only a few short hours after the application went up on the Sega.net website Sega.net had already gathered info from well over 1000 applicants.

Sega.net's beta-test application is closed now, so if you missed your chance, the opportunity is gone. Gamers picked to serve as official beta testers will be contacted directly by MacConnell. They will be expected to test several titles over the course of August 21st to August 29th. Applicants needed to have been at least 18 years old and be willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Sega.net launches as a fully-functional gaming network on September 7.
