Diablo II for the Macintosh Ships

Mac users can begin ridding the world of Diablo and his vile brethren, just like PC users have doing for the past few weeks. Blizzard Entertainment announced today that Diablo II is now available for Macintosh gamers. This marks the fastest conversion of a game in the history of Blizzard Entertainment.

Essentially, the Macintosh version of Diablo II is the same exact experience as the PC version. Mac gamers need not feel that they are at a single mouse-button disadvantage to the multi-mouse-button goodness enjoyed by PC-based Diablo II players, because the game offers InputSprocket support, enabling the use of multi-button mice.

Mac users will want to make sure they have at least a G3 processor, Mac OS 8.1 or higher, 64 MB RAM plus Virtual Memory, 650 MB available hard drive space, 4X CD-ROM drive, video support for 256 color display at 800X600, and a mouse and keyboard. Mac users wishing to play multiplayer need to make sure they can provide an additional 300 MB available hard drive space. Playing over a Battle.net connection requires a low-latency 28.8 Kbps Internet connection. Multiplayer games played over a LAN require a TCP/IP network.

Developer and publisher Blizzard's record of accomplishment includes three consecutive "Number 1"-selling games and multiple "Game of the Year" awards. The company's free Internet gaming service Battle.net reigns as the largest in the world with millions of unique users.
