Phantasy Star Online has been delayed. According to online reports, Sega's
ambitious multiplayer RPG will not be on store shelves in time for Christmas,
and, most likely, won't be in stores at all before spring of 2001.
Preliminary reports are citing the game's translation system as the source
of the delays. This does not strike RPGamer News as surprising, considering
Sega is faced with the brutal task of ironing out translations for each
supported language before the simultaneous worldwide release of the
multi-player RPG, a daunting task indeed. It is also realistic to predict
that Sega could be running into some network problems that are also
confounding the situation.
Sega.com is currently showing January 1, 2001 as a release date for
Phantasy Star Online, however, expect that date to be moved back as a more
concrete date materializes. Sega of America had not returned RPGamer's calls
as of press time.
