More Zelda Gaiden Information

Zelda Gaiden details seem to be springing up all over recently. In a recent interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, Famitsu Weekly gathered yet more Zelda Gaiden information.

The fishing minigame from Ocarina of Time will be making reappearance. Expect some major changes, though. "Rather than taking the fishing part of the last game to extremes, we want to do something new with it. Like 'Jabu Jabu' fishing," says Miyamoto. How exactly one would go about catching the fish god of the Zora is uncertain but Miyamoto offered a hint saying, "If you catch the 'Jabu Jabu,' it may cause things like stopping the fall of the moon."

As reported earlier, time will be a major issue. The moon isn't something with the patience to wait around while it's on a collision course. Luckily, Gaiden's laws of physics aren't too strict. Miyamoto alleviated some concerns of time being too restricting, "They say 'Time is money'. You will be able to buy time using Rupies. There will be a merchant who sells time."

Then comes the ultimate question. How complete is Gaiden? Miyamoto confirmed that the engine is complete, and the game itself is about 50% finished leaving only the second half of the data to be written. It is currently scheduled for a March 2000 release in Japan.

Here are a few more screenshots of Zelda Gaiden. Take a look!
