After weeks of speculation, Square has finally released details on Vagrant Story. Yasumi Matsuno creator of Final Fantasy Tactics is developing Vagrant Story, along with fellow FFT's character designer Akihiko Yoshida.

Vagrant Story is a fully polygonal 3D medieval adventure game. As Special Agent Ashley Riot, your quest is to liberate the Duke of Bardorba's mansion. In the mansion Ashley will face trials and monsters to contend with. However it is not known how the Battles will take place, as Matsuno did not mention if the game will be a turn based or action based battle.

According to Matsuno Vagrant Story will only take 5-6 hours to complete.

Vagrant Story is tentatively scheduled for a fall '99 release in Japan.
