Trails of Cold Steel III

In its latest update regarding the game, Nihon Falcom revealed the Japanese release date for The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III. The game will be released in the country exclusively on PlayStation 4 on September 28, 2017. Its release will come with both a limited edition and first-print run physical bonuses.

In addition to the release date, the developer also detailed three characters returning from previous games in the Legend of Heroes series. The first two of characters originally appeared in the Trails in the Sky subseries: Tita Russell and Agate Crosner. Now aged 16, Tita enrolls in the Thors Military Academy Reaves II Branch School as a member of Class IX (Accounting Division). Agate is now 28 and has travelled from Liberl to the Erebonian Empire to investigate an incident that began the Hundred Days War between the two countries fourteen years prior.

The third character detailed is G. Schmidt, a 72-year-old researcher who appeared in the previous Trails of Cold Steel games. With a brilliant mind but cold demeanour driven only by his curiosity, he becomes a special advisor at the Thors Military Academy Reaves II Branch School.

Trails of Cold Steel III is planned for release in Japan for PlayStation 4 later this year. The previous two games were released by XSEED Games in North America and NIS America in Europe, with the second game winning RPGamer's Game of the Year award for 2016. XSEED Games also recently released the third game in the Trails in the Sky trilogy, which takes place in the same world as Trails of Cold Steel, for PC.
