This week, Nihon Falcom released its first full trailer for the latest Ys title, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. The three-minute trailer, viewable below, shows the game's initial premise of Adol being aboard a passenger liner that shipwrecks on the unsettled Isle of the Seiren as well as the second major protagonist Dana, with whom Adol shares a mysterious connection, plus various clips of gameplay.
Falcom also provided details on two more of Adol's fellow liner passengers, who end up joining the drifting village that the castaways create. Reya is an eleven-year-old boy who is heir to the wealthy Dior family. Returning home alone after going on a trip with his father, Reya survives the shipwreck by clinging to the livestock of Pikkards. Miralda, meanwhile, is thirty-two years old and helps her husband run a restaurant. She has six children waiting for her back home and is very talented at cooking. The two appear in some new screenshots of the game, which also showcase extra skills for Adol and Dana.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is due to be released in Japan for PlayStation Vita on July 21, 2016, with a PlayStation 4 version planned to follow in early 2017. No announcement has been made regarding a Western release.
