Atlus released a lot of fresh information and media for its upcoming release in Japan of Etrian Odyssey V. The new details focus on various skills available to party members in the game, with their associated media joined by class trailers for the Fencer and Dragoon.

The first type of skills shown were Race Skills, with each race learning different skills at different times. Various exmaples were given: Earthrun learn fishing and a passive resistance-increasing skill, Lunarians learn magic perception and endowment skills, Therians learn a skill that provides edible beasts and can increase pre-emptive attack rates, and Bronies can increase item limites and boost item recovery effects. Many of the skills also provide base attribute bonuses to their characters.

Atlus also showed the game's Union Skills and some of the Character Skills provided by five of the game's classes. Union Skills can be activated between multiple party members but first require the Union Gauge to be filled. Meanwhile, Character Skills are used in battle and work with each class' role, with examples offered for the Fencer, Dragoon, Warlock, Masurao, and Herbalist classes.

The Fencer is a front-row attacker with high evasion. It has access to a blindness-inflicting attack, a follow-up attack if the selected enemy uses fire or stab attacks, and can counterattack upon a successful evasion. The Dragoon also fights from the front row but focuses more on defence. Dragoons can reduce damage done to the entire row, perform a ranged strike attack, and fire a barrage that reduces the enemy attack. The Warlock is a back-row magic attacker. In addition to elemental attacks, Warlocks can cast spells without consuming an extra turn at the cost of using more TP and can boost magic attack power by focusing their spells on a single target. Murasao are sword-wielding front-row attackers. The have access to an attack that inflicted a large number of hits, as well as a parry ability and a skill that adds an extra enemy to the battle. Finally, the Herbalist is a back-row character focusing on recovery. In addition to healing allies, they can poison or blind rows of enemies.

Etrian Odyssey V is set to be released in Japan on August 4, 2016, exclusively for Nintendo 3DS. No announcement has been made regarding a western release.
