Nihon Falcom has released more information for its upcoming action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. Along with new screenshots, new details about the characters Olga and Sarai are revealed.

Olga and Sarai are childhood friends of protagonist Dana. Olga acts as a strict older sister to Dana, while Sarai is far more kind and approachable. Both characters are concerned about Dana's well being but in different ways. Additional characters are Cathleen, a blacksmith who will open shop once rescued and provide a means to upgrade and craft new weapons and armor, and Aaron, the owner of an industrial shop who, when rescued, will dismantle other kinds of equipment. He also has an interest in tracking down a criminal.

Ys VIII releases in Japan on PlayStation Vita on July 21, 2016. A PlayStation 4 version of the game is planned for 2017. There has been no official announcement of an English release.
