Paradox Interactive announced at E3 that Magicka's free DLC will be available on June 21, 2011. The DLC features a new PvP mode, where players can go head-to-head in an enclosed arena. In the PvP mode, the players can alter the rules of battle. For example, limits can be placed on the types of items, weapons, and armour that can be used. Magicka’s PvP mode will feature three different types of battles. Deathmatch is the classic, self-explanatory PvP mode. Brawl mode gives players or teams each a set number of lives. Finally Kreitor mode is a round-based battle where certain Magicks are unlocked at special intervals during play.

Included in the free DLC are two PvP maps, plus a new wizard robe. The DLC will also include an updated book-style user interface designed to simplify the current one.
