THQ has officially announced Darksiders II, the next game in its apocalyptic Zelda-like series. Sadly for those who enjoyed his temper tantrum-style antics, the Horseman War will not be starring in this game. Instead, Darksiders II takes place at the same time as the events in Darksiders and stars Death, who we imagine is probably a cooler cucumber than his brother.

In the Darksiders series, the apocalypse has been triggered early, and somebody has framed War, one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, for the event. Death is taking the reins in this game in order to clear his brother's name. THQ states that Darksiders II will feature a much larger world, a better weapon customization system, larger and more challenging dungeons, and of course new and interesting boss fights. Darksiders II will be available for consoles and PC in 2012.
