Sega has announced that the 2D side scrolling beat-em-up/RPG Guardian Heroes will be making a reappearance on XBLA. Guardian Heroes was originally developed by Treasure and released on the Sega Saturn way back in January 1996.

Rather than simply releasing the old version of the game through Microsoft's online service, Sega has announced that the game is being updated with high definition graphics and additional game modes. The main story mode will still feature two player co-op action, and Sega has added in a versus mode for up to twelve players, along with a time attack mode, arcade mode and arrange mode. No exact release date has been provided yet, so keep an eye on RPGamer for further updates.
