The Nintendo Wii's classic game download service, Virtual Console, has seen very successful sales since its inception in November 2006. More than 4.7 million games have been downloaded, at a rate of 1,000 an hour. Now, just over six months later, the Wii will release its 100th classic game in North America on June 4. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link joins the ranks as the fourth Legend of Zelda game in the Wii's downloadable library.

Players who wish to download classic games from the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and TurboGrafx16 consoles only need to log onto the Wii Shop Channel to purchase any of the Wii's 100 retro titles. "With an Internet connection rate reaching 40 percent, Wii owners have more options than ever to find the kinds of games they love to play," said George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications.

The top five most popular downloads include Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Super Mario World, and The Legend of Zelda. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link joins around a dozen other RPGs available for download so far. For a list of Nintendo's available VC titles, visit the Nintendo Wii's official VC website.
