Up until now it has been merely hopeful anticipation. Would we or would we not be getting North American versions of the upcoming Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy Ivalice Alliance titles? The question has finally been answered in a resounding yes. Though the actual dates have yet to be set, Square Enix has officially announced four titles for the Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii and PlayStation Portable systems that have only been seen in Japan up until now.

The Nintendo DS will be welcoming Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker and Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. Joker will allow players to assume the role of a monster hunter who is on a quest to become the world's greatest trainer. Players will be able to capture, train, and breed more than 200 classic Dragon Quest creatures during the hunt. Joker has already sold more than 1 million copies in Japan and is set for North American release in Q4 2007. Revenant Wings is a follow-up to the PlayStation 2's blockbuster hit Final Fantasy XII. In the exclusive DS title, completely controllable with the DS stylus, players will be able to control massive armies and utilize special moves and Gambits. North America will be seeing this title hit shelves by winter.

Dragon Quest fans who own a Wii have something to look forward to. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors will take a voyage across the seas at some point in 2008, though an official release date has not been given. The title was developed exclusively for the Wii to take advantage of its motion sensing technology. Players can use the Wii's remote as a sword while traveling through the land and facing classic Dragon Quest foes.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is the last title to be announced for North American release. Scheduled for an October 2007 release, Tactics is being revamped exclusively for the PSP. The original Final Fantasy Tactics gave birth to the world of Ivalice, and the PSP version will feature exclusive content not found in the original. Including new CG sequences, jobs, multiplayer, and storyline elements, The War of the Lions has something new for both traditional and newcomer tacticians.
