Square Enix's latest installment in the Dragon Quest series now has a Japanese release date. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and Tower of Mirrors will hit shelves in Japanese retailers on July 12. The game will cost a cool 6,800 yen.
Japanese gamers will notice that Dragon Quest Swords makes a number of changes to the traditional formula of the series. The title is the first installment of the Dragon Quest series to be released on the Nintendo Wii. While gamers outside of Japan may remember voice acting in Dragon Quest VIII, it was added for the international release. Thus Dragon Quest Swords will mark the first time Japanese gamers will hear native speech in the Dragon Quest series. The game is also priced lower than other full installments in the series.
