Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures

Over the Easter weekend, the beta-testing stage for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures was announced, and the announcement did not go unnoticed. More than 100,000 testers have signed on since the sign-ups began, half of those within the first 24 hours. In order to weed out the "free-ride" gamers and ensure that only dedicated players would bite, Funcom created a demanding beta sign-up process which involved filling out a number of detailed questions including the technical specs of the players' PCs.

"We’re naturally very pleased to see that so many dedicated gamers are signing up for the Age of Conan Beta at such a rapid pace," said Trond Arne Aas, CEO of Funcom. "With more than 100,000 gamers signed up in such a short time-frame our confidence in the game's potential and its ability to be a major contender in the MMO genre continues to be strengthened."

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is scheduled for release on October 30. With such promising early numbers, Funcom and Eidos are hopeful for the future of the title. "We've been developing this incredible world for years now and today more than 150 people are working hard on achieving the ambitious goals we set out for the game," said Gaute Godager, founder and Game Director of Funcom. "The team is very excited about the number of gamers who have signed up for the Beta so far, and we can't wait to see them charging into the brutal battlefields of Hyboria!"

Players interested in signing up for the beta still have a chance at a spot by visiting the Age of Conan Beta sign-up site. For further information on Age of Conan, visit the game's official website.
