In an interview conducted during E3, Goichi "Suda 51" Suda, the head of independent development studio Grasshopper Manufacture, revealed that a sequel to the company's upcoming Nintendo DS action RPG, Contact , is in development. Suda let the news out while revealing that the team developing Contact had left Grasshopper to form their own studio, named Audio Inc. Audio Inc. will be headed by Akira Ueda, the director of Contact, Shining Soul, and Shining Soul II. Ueda will also be directing Contact 2.

Contact tells the story of a native boy who is recruited to find materials to repair the crashed spaceship of an eccentric professor. While the boy's adventures unfold on the lower screen, the professor, rendered in a retro graphical style, takes up the top.

Contact was published by Marvelous Interactive in Japan and is currently being localized for a North American audience by Atlus USA. Suda revealed no further information about the game's sequel, save that it will appear on an unspecified Nintendo console.
