Nintendo Goes On Tour

In one of its biggest publicity moves in recent years, Nintendo has announced a 25-city tour that will showcase both its hardware and a number of flashy musical acts. Dubbing the event the Fusion Tour, the company announced a number of the larger cities where the tour will be making stops, confirming events in Los Angeles, Pheonix, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Chicago, and Detroit.

The tour's timeline is unclear at this point; the only date currently confirmed is the August 4th Los Angeles stop. Bands signed up for the tour include Evanescence, Cold, Revis, Finger Eleven, and Cauterize. The concert headliners, however, will have to compete with a number of Nintendo titles that emphasize the connectivity between the company's two current platforms. Nintendo has thus far been sparse with the details; while it is not known whether any new titles will be making an appearance, more information will likely come to light before the tour begins in earnest.

A number of upcoming titles that will employ the Game Boy Advance's interconnectivity with the GameCube are on Nintendo's slate, and it seems an event such as this would be tailor-made for these games (although Nintendo has not specified which games will be coming along for the ride). It will be of particular interest to see whether or not Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles or The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords will be introduced to the public at large for the first time on this tour, in some form or another.

Nintendo has also thrown together an impressive list of sponsors, ranging from Yahoo's Launch site to the wildlly popular Maxim Blender music magazin. More information on the Fusion Tour can be found at Nintendo's official site.
