With the Square-Enix merger in recent memory, Namco has decided to try its hand at the merging business as well. This time, the maker of the acclaimed Tales series has its sights set on Sega, which is already set to merge with pachinko machine maker Sammy in May.

According to Shin Hasuya, a spokesman for Namco, the announcement of the Sammy merger this past February was during a break in talks with Namco. In addition, Namco's Japanese website is reporting that the merger is set for 2004. Sammy, however, is determined to go through with its own merger with Sega.

There has been no official word from Sega concerning its possible merger with Namco, but RPGamer will bring any news as it becomes available.
