Over the course of the past year, murmurs of a new Castlevania game for
the PlayStation 2 console have risen from the Konami camp to the perked up
ears of enraptured series fans. Recently, amidst discussion of
White Night Concerto, an upcoming Castlevania title for the Game Boy Advance, series producer
Koji Igarashi expressed interest in the prospects of a PS2 Castlevania game. "If many
fans speak out, I want to work on development for PlayStation 2 in various forms," said Igarashi.
If Igarashi is indeed looking for a crowd-pleaser, it is likely that such a game, if developed,
would continue in the rich 2-D tradition of the series and include the RPG elements
of fan favorites such as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the PSX and Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
for the Game Boy Advance. Hopefully, the confirmation fans have long waited for will
manifest in the near future, if not as early as next month's Electronic Entertainment Expo.
