Cross Gate "Beginner's Version" Release Details
Cross Gate

Cross Gate has met with success in both Japan and China since its release last year, and to capitalize on that success, Enix has plans to release a budget "beginner's version" of their massively multiplayer online RPG for the PC. The beginner's version will be more or less equivalent to the full version, but players will not be able to advance past the rank of Apprentice. If the restriction is removed through upgrading, the player can take his or her choice of jobs, partake in quests, and operate just as a full version user's copy would work.

The beginner's version will be available for the discounted price of 2,980 yen (about $22.94), and will have a monthly fee of 1,050 yen (about $8.08). The game can be upgraded to the full version through Enix's website for a cost of 3,800 yen (about $29.25). The pricing model is designed for users who would like to try the game before dedicating a great deal of money to it, since no free trial exists. Essentially, the cost of the full product is split up over two payments. Cross Gate has been available in Japan since last summer and China soon afterward, though no news of a North American release has been announced. The beginner's version will be released in Japan on May 23.
