Natsume's North American website has added coverage to the newest chapter in the Harvest Moon saga, known as Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland, arriving for the PlayStation 2. Among the information given are the goal of the game (to save the village from being turned into a resort), the fact that there are nine ways to complete this goal, resulting in nine different endings, and the shift of focus from making money to developing relationships. That focus shift is a natural progression from the dating elements found in earlier Harvest Moon games.

Featuring a true three-dimensional environment with cel-shaded characters, Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland appears to advance the popular gameplay of earlier games in the series while retaining the elements that players have fallen in love with over the years. Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland will arrive in North America in October 2001.
