Square Enix has announced the formation of a new studio within the company. Luminous Productions will be based in Tokyo, Japan, with Square Enix stating that the studio is tasked with "developing new AAA titles and bringing innovative game and other entertainment content to a global audience".

Luminous Productions is being led by Hajime Tabata, who took over as Director on Final Fantasy XV, overseeing the game's actual release as well as subsequent additional content and adjustments. The studio has an official website, which currently contains a hiring call for developers in a multitude of potential roles.
