Kadokawa Games has provided more details on the upcoming Metal Max Xeno, introducing new character Ittica as well as the PLT-01 model tank. Ittica is one of the allies that the game's protagonist comes across. She is part of the Mewt race, which mankind created as part of its efforts to counter the threat posed by NOA, and her special ability lets her transform into another ally, copying their strengths. Meanwhile, the PLT-01 tank is inspired by the real-world PL-01 model being developed in Poland. The PLT-01 has good versatility and balance, with players likely to find it around the middle of the game.

Although set in the same post-apocalyptic world as the previous games in the series, Metal Max Xeno marks a bit of a refresh, taking place in a different time and location with some adjustments made to its history. The game is set to be released in Japan for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on April 19, 2018. Kadokawa Games has stated that it is planning a western release, but no details have been given.
