Kickstarter

RPGamer returns with its irregular column highlighting ongoing RPG crowdfuning campaigns. In this edition we take a look at the Kickstarter campaign for Eden's Last Sunrise and the Fig campaign for Nightmarchers.

Eden's Last Sunrise

Eden's Last Sunrise is a tactical RPG from Sungazer Software, which released platformer/turn-based RPG hybrid The Tenth Line in 2017. Though borrowing some themes from the developer's past projects, Eden's Last Sunrise features an all-new story and world, which split off into a group of spacefarers and those preferring to remain on their planet and shun advanced technology. Two hundred years after the initial split, the spacefarers return warning of a calamity coming to the planet.

Players choose between controlling the commander of the spacefarers' Cradle Project, or the surface dwellers' ambassador from the Grand Continental Leadership. Depending on the choices made, players can side with one of the factions, try and achieve a peaceful resolution, or come out on top through conquest, with multiple paths and endings available. The tactical combat system uses an action point-based system as well as a job system with the ability to mix and match skills and unlock new jobs.

Eden's Last Sunrise is being developed for PC, Mac, and PlayStation 4, with an initial planned release date of December 2019. A playable demo is available to download from itch.io. Sungazer Software is looking for $25,000 in funding by February 8, 2018. Those who pledge at least $15 will receive a digital copy of the game as part of their backer rewards (with a limited number available for $12 pledges at the time of writing).

Nightmarchers

Developer Wyrmbyte is developing Nightmarchers, an RPG set in Hawaii and based on local mythology. The game is set after an event called the Great Thunder, which has destroyed much of the island of Oahu. The event has also seen the return of the evil god Kamapua'a, who has formed an army of raiders, while the rest of the survivors splinter into various factions.

Nightmarchers is an action shooter RPG, with players controlling Kai. Decendent of a powerful shaman, Kai lives with his son Honu, but when raiders threaten his home, a spirit awaken Kai's potential to see both the living and dead, bring back the old gods, and cast powerful spells. The game features various outposts and factions, with different factions teaching Kai different skills. Players can team up with or defeat factions as they try and rebuild the island. Player choices will affect the story and Oahu's balance of power.

Nightmarchers is being developed for PC and is initial planned for release in Q3 2018. Wyrmbyte is looking for $100,000 in funding by February 17, 2018, with those who pledge at least $27 receiving a digital copy of the game as part of their backer rewards.
