Nihon Falcom released more information and media focusing on the features of the PlayStation 4 version of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. This update details the new Domination Battles, where players are given the opportunity to raid the bases where the beasts of the Isle of Seiren nest.

As players progress through the story they will unlock opportunities to invade these bases in the form of special missions. Domination Battles have two main tasks. One is for players to set up bonfires in specific areas. Once set up these bonfires weaken all enemies in the surrounding area. The second task involves destroying large enemy nests. Destroying these prevents new monsters from appearing from that nest.

Bonfires will help with destroying nests, which have large amounts of HP. Having a bonfire nearby will allow support characters to come and assist in taking the nests down. However, bonfires can themsleves be destroyed, and if this happens then all the benefits are lost. Once players have destroyed enough nests, or a time limit is reached, then a boss monster will appear. Defeating this monster completes the mission, with a reward given depending on the final rank achieved.

The latest mainline Ys title, Ys VIII was initially released in Japan for PlayStation Vita in July 2016, with its PlayStation 4 version currently set for release on May 25, 2017. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana was also recently announced for release in North America and Europe for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC in summer 2017 by NIS America.
