Square Enix has announced a western PC release for Dragon Quest Heroes II. A PC version of the game, available via Steam, will release worldwide on April 25, 2017. The title will also launch on PlayStation 4 in North America on April 25, 2017, and in Europe on April 28, 2017.

Alongside the announcement came information about the game's Explorer's Edition, now available for pre-order. This edition of the game will contain fifteen pieces of item DLC and the physical edition will also have reversible cover art. Those who pre-order through the PlayStation Store will also receive an exclusive theme, a Dragon Quest hero costume, and a special recipe for Dragon Quest Builders. A new trailer was also released for the game, giving an overview of the game's story and concepts.
