The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind

Bethesda has announced a new expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online. This expansion will see players return to Vvardenfell, the location of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, for which the expansion shares the same subtitle. New content for the expansion includes the largest landmass added since the original game's release, a new class, and a new PvP mode.

Set seven hundred years before the events of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, players will explore the familiar land, with major landmarks still intact, as they work to help the famous warrior-poet Vivec. Vivec has mysteriously fallen ill and it is up to players to discover the cure, as Vivic's help will be necessary to prevent a coming calamity.

The new class in the game is the Warden, a nature magic-based character. The first new character class added to the game since launch, the Warden's key feature will be the War Bear, a companion fighter that aids the Warden in combat. Players will also have the chance to try out this new class in the new PvP arenas. While open-world battles are a key component to The Elder Scrolls Online, Morrowind will add new PvP Battleground, which see three teams of four battle for supremacy in the Ashlands.

There are several different available options to purchase the expansion. The standard edition, which features Tamriel Unlimited as well, will retail for $59.99/£39.99/59.99. For those who already own the base game, an Upgrade Edition will be available for $39.99/£29.99/39.99. For those looking for a little more, the game will also have a Physical Collector's Edition For $99.99/£89.99/99.99 that includes, in addition to both the base game and expansion:

  • 12" Dwarven Colossus statue
  • A full-color Naryu's Journal, which will chronicle a Morag Tong assassin with featured concept art
  • A map of Morrowind
  • An exclusive metallic case
  • Everything listed in the Digital Collector's Edition below

A Digital Collector's Edition will also be available for $79.99/£64.99/€79.99 — or as an Upgrade Edition without the base game for $59.99/£49.99/€59.99 — and will include:

  • Collector's Edition Grey Bear for use with the Warden
