Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood

Square Enix recently unveiled details regarding the various editions available for Final Fantasy XIV Online and its newest expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood. There will be three content groups of the game available: the Final Fantasy XIV Online Starter Pack, the Final Fantasy XIV Online Complete Edition, and the Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood expansion in standard and collector's editions.

The Final Fantasy XIV Online Starter Pack is a renaming of the base Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn game and will cost $19.99. The Final Fantasy XIV Online Complete Edition will include the base game and both of the expansions Heavensward and Stormblood and cost $59.99 for the standard edition, or $99.99 for the digital collector's edition, which features the digital bonuses of the three individual digital collector's editions of its parts. Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood will be available in a physical collector's edition for PC and PlayStation 4 for $199.99 that features a special box with artwork from Yoshitaka Anamo, a 7" Zelos yae Galvus figure, an art book, a Stormblood logo sticker, a cloth map of Eorzea, a Syldra in-game mount, a Wind-up Bartz in-game minion, and a Chicken Knife in-game Red Mage weapon. It will also have a digital collector's edition for $59.99 that contains just the in-game items of the physical collector's edition, and a standard edition for $39.99.

Pre-orders for the Final Fantsy XIV: Stormblood expansion will be available from January 24, 2017. Those who pre-order the expansion will receive early access to its content starting from June 16, 2017 (ahead of its official June 20, 2017 release date). They will also receive a Wind-up Red Mage minion and a pair of Ala Mhigan earrings.

With Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood's release, service for the game will end for PlayStation 3 users. Square Enix has unveiled details of its PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4 Upgrade Campaign, which players can find at the following links depending on their region: Japan, North America, and Europe.

Finally, Square Enix answered some frequently-asked questions about the Stormblood expansion. It confirmed that players will need to complete certain quests from the 3.5 series of patches for Heavensward to access the new Ala Mhigo location. It also stated that the new Red Mage job will be available to all those who have purchased the expansion provided they have reached level 50 in a combat class; no specific quest progress is necessary.
