Tales of Berseria

Bandai Namco released new details and screenshots for Tales of Berseria, the latest mainline title in the series. These new images show two new characters — Magilou and Bienfu — as well as the new Break Soul feature in the game's battle system. There is also a third trailer for the game, which features the game's theme song performed by Japanese band FLOW.

Magilou is a mysterious woman who proclaims herself to be a great sorceress, though her reputation amongst others is rather glowing. She is generally carefree and a bit of a trickster, but brings out a darker side towards Velvet. Bienfu, meanwhile, is a hat-wearing malak (spirit). Though small, he possesses high strength and bravery and has a past relationship with Magilou that seems to have ended badly.

The Break Soul feature expands upon the Soul Gauge system introduced for the game that affects how many attacks characters can link together as part of a combo. Break Soul is an action that allows players to exceed the regular combo limit and gain an extra advantage in battle, though the requirements for it have not yet been revealed. It is also confirmed that players will be able to switch controlled their character mid-battle.

Tales of Berseria is due to be released in Japan later this year for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. A western release is planned to follow for PlayStation 4 and PC.
