Sega is bringing 7th Dragon III Code: VFD to North America this summer. The Nintendo 3DS title is the fourth in the series following the original DS release and two PSP games, but is the first to be released outside of Japan. Despite being a follow-up to these titles, the game's story is standalone and does not require any prior knowledge of the series. The game will available physically and digitally at a price of $39.99/CA$54.99.
7th Dragon III Code: VFD is a turn-based dungeon-crawling RPG that also features base-building and dating aspects as well as a cat café. The game story is set during a dark time in the world, following the appearance of dragons in the year 2100. The protagonist teams up with Nodens Enterprises, which has developed time-travelling technology that it hopes to use to counter the dragon's power in three particular time periods and then defeat the True Dragon threat.
Players will need to venture through dungeons in three areas: the mythical kingdom of Atlantis, the futuristic capital of Eden, and present-day Tokyo. The protagonist can be joined by two other squad members in combat, with a total party size of up to nine. These party members can be one of eight distinct classes, and have different voice and appearance options. Between dungeons, players can relax back at Nodens Enterprises HQ, which can be upgraded as they progress.
