In honor of the series' twentieth anniversary, Nintendo has announced that it has plans to release limited Pokémon editions of the 3DS. North Americans willl recieve a Pokémon Red/Blue 3DS that comes with both copies of the game installed as well as unique, interchangeable faceplates featuring art from the original games. In Europe, three different bundles will be available, each coming with either Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, or Pokémon Yellow installed and an appropriately-colored 2DS. As part of the year-long celebration, Nintendo will also be hosting a legendary Pokémon distribution event every month of the year starting in February. For the first 24 days of each month, players with copies of Pokemon X/Y or Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire can connect to the Nintendo Network to recieve a free legendary.
