Mystery Chronicle Gets Some Indie Inspiration

Mystery Chronicle

The next game in Spike Chunsoft's Mystery Dungeon series features heavy influence from an indie title. Fushigi no Chronicle, or Mystery Chronicle, is a reimagining of Smoking WOLF's PC game One Way Heroics, which was released in English in 2014 by Playism. The game set to be released later in 2015 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Japan.

The roguelike is said to be a "forced scrolling RPG", with a deadly light known as the Shine Raid slowly covering up the game world with each turn and causing a game over if touched. As with previous Mystery Dungeon titles, worlds are randomly generated, although in Mystery Chronicle the layout is created from the name given to the world by the player. Online functionality is present in letting players compare their progress against others who have played in that world by using the same name for its creation.
