California-based developer RosePortal Games has launched its Kickstarter campaign for Unraveled. This game is stated to combination RPG, platformer, and interactive story. It is currently planned for release on PC in November 2015, but the development team has hopes to expand to Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and PlayStation through stretch goals.

The story of Unraveled focuses on a little girl as she explores a ship breaking yard in search of her family, accompanied by a large plush monster. Though heavily story-focused, game will have very little dialogue, instead relying on the writing technique of "show, don't tell." There are also many collectible items that, in addition to various combat effects, contain also contain flashbacks to the girl's life.

Battles themselves are stated to be infrequent, unique, and very strategic. Each character has a scale with one side representing calm (blue) and the other anger (red). Using calm or anger-based skill moves the scale to one side or the other. Being pushed to one end powers up skills for that attribute, but also leaves the combatant vulnerable to skills of the opposing attribute. Exploration of the ship breaking yard will play out like a 2D platformer, as the girl must avoid gaps and spikes as well as searching for hidden passageways.

RosePortal Games's goal is set at $15,000 by March 21, 2015. Players wanting a copy of the game need to pledge at least $10, with additional reward items at higher amounts, such as the soundtrack and a physical copy packaged to look like a PSX game. More information on the game can be found on its Kickstarter page and on Steam Greenlight.
